Final Draft
Bleakwood returns with a story that examines the terrifying consequences of our own creations
I have to say, I'm feeling somewhat discombobulated by all the recent good news stories. It's been a hard quarter century, but might there be light at the end of the tunnel? Time will tell, I guess.
Today I bring you news of the newest episode of Bleakwood, Rough Draft. The story was written by Other Stories and Nights End alumni Carolyn O’Brien and performed as ever by me.
Carolyn is a disabled author living in Pennsylvania, USA. She writes horror, dark fantasy, and speculative fiction. This marks the first writing credit for a non-English writer but I have to say that she nails the tone and feel of our little weird town perfectly. Check out the episode on Spotify here, or search Bleakwood in your podcatcher of choice.
Also, a quick reminder that last week say the first episode of Season Two of The Sunset Chronicles, and we’re going to be launching episode two next week. Check out all the books and where to buy them right here. There are even paperback versions available for episodes one and two of season one, if you prefer to have the smell of a new book in your hands. I’ve priced them about as low as I can without losing any money, so why not pick them up now?
At the moment here in Hollow Stone Towers I’m hard at work in the word mines writing the sixth (and penultimate) series of the Chronicles, which has been a lot of fun, as well as working on covers for the Darkness Rises vampire series that will be coming later this year, September 29th, to be precise. Hopefully I’ll have the first cover, at least, to share with you next week.
Recommendations:
Reading: So at the moment I’m basically glued to news liveblogs and Bluesky following events over in America, where there seems to have been an outbreak of that rarest of commodities — hope. And, on Bluesky at least, there seems to be a lot of joy, too. So I’ll just say that if you’re on there, why not follow me?
#nowplaying: Uncle Neil is back on Spotify again, so I’ve been bingeing through a few choice cuts of the old man’s catalogue, so let’s have one of his, shall we?
Watching: I know it’s hardly a revelation to say but I’m really enjoying the new season of House of the Dragon, and I’m sure my wife is really enjoying the way I repeatedly sing ‘HOUSY DRAGON HOUSY DRAGON’ over the theme song. Every. Single. Time.
Hope your week is as joyful as can be, and happy listening
Paul
